I enjoy painting the serenity that I see in nature. My work includes landscapes and still lifes that I have painted from scenes in and around the North Shore of Chicago as well as from travel. The paintings represent the coast of California, the Colorado mountains, the west coast of Michigan and visits to national parks.

Although my pieces are primarily painted from scenes I have photographed , some have been painted “en plein aire”. I paint in oil and in gouache. Gouache means “splash” or “waterpaint” in Italian, and is a type of opaque watercolor paint.

My background includes an art degree from Albion College in Albion, Michigan and instruction at the Summer School of the Art Institute of Chicago at Ox-Bow in Saugatuck, Michigan. I have also taken painting classes for 25 years at the Art Center in Evanston, IL and the North Shore Art League in Winnetka, IL.

My work is exhibited and sold in private and group shows on the North Shore of Chicago.
